    Hospital Paid COBRA Payments
If a hospital pays the COBRA premium for a patient, is the hospital required to issue a 1099 to report the payment as income?

I am not sure legally a hospital can pay cobra payments ( the insurance payments) for a patient, they can pay them for an employee I will assume but then will have to pay them for all employees.

Paying a patients insurance premium opens them up to all sorts of legal issues, to have to pay all patients insurnce.

The hosptals legal staff needs to review this before anything is paid

I don't see that the hospital can legally pay a patient's COBRA premium.

Who/what do you mean by "health care provider"? Nursing home, home care aid - something else?
