    Driveshaft
    I have a honda accord EX / 4dr / 104K miles

Just brought my car in to get two new back tires at WTC... I brought my car there before for tires mainly and oil change... mechanics called me to explain I need to replace the driveshaft because of wear and tear on the joints and boots is causing grease to leak from the driveshaft.

I haven't noticed any extra grease or any problems while driving before hand... so what's to tell if I really have a problem with my driveshaft?

And if they do replace it how can I tell if in fact it was replaced?

    Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Looks like Im a bit late with the reply but...
If a CV joint at the end of the driveshaft is leaking grease there's no need to replace the whole shaft, or even the joint.
The rubber gaiter that covers the joint needs rraplcing, that's all.

The boot could be the only thing that needs replacing, but if the joint has run dry of grease, then you will have to replace it as well. You may consider getting a rebuilt half-shaft, it may be cheaper than just a joint.

To answer the other part of your question, if the boot split there will be grease slung on the body and suspension parts around the drive axle.

    Hope this helps.
