    Guess what this is!

You might not have guessed it but that is the bottom of my evaporator coils in the air conditioner. There are dead bugs, bacteria, molds, mildews and who knows what, sitting inside there. It must be years of buildup. No wonder why it smells like midlew in my house!

What do you recommend I do to have this cleaned? Does the whole coil need to be replaced? The coil fins are filled with similar dust and bacteria.

It is hard to get all of that out of those little trays but if you use long bottle brushes you can get most of it. Can you see the bottom of your coil? I am sure the bottem of you fins need to be brushed off also.

The problem is that it is like an inch deep full of that orange crap! The filter is absolutely covered in dust. I think the coils need to be replaced, because this thing is all rusty anyway.

as long it not leaking or have mold you will be OK with the yellow "look".. if you have access to coil cleaner use it ( don't scrape the pan too hard it insulated).. dirty coil / filter would restrict airflow; it will cause the unit to short cycle... if your system take too long to cool down if may be under size/ duct leakage/ not fully charge ( or worst your neighbor is stealing your cooling)
