Hello, I am new to this site. I have two questions, both pertaining to my gas boiler which was installed in October 2005. Last year we asked our plumber to come down and clean the boiler and he told us that it didn't have to be cleaned for five to seven years... is this true or should I have a service tech come down before winter sets in and have it cleaned?

Also, since it was installed we have had uneven heat temperatures in our rooms. One room is very comfortable and the rest of the rooms are much colder. If we turn up the heat to warm up the "cold" rooms, the other room is very warm.

NOTE:
We have two zones. One zone for upstairs, where all the rooms heat evenly. It's the downstairs zone where we are experiencing the uneven temperatures.

Are your radiators opened up evenly? Seems obvious, but if one is turned down or off the hot water won't come through to heat the rooms. Are they all bled out completely? If there is air in the pipes someplace that could also be preventing some of the radiators from heating up.

Have your service tech balance your heat system. Valves may have to be added to achieve a perfect temp in all rooms. Comfort is what it is all about and the original company that installed your new boiler 5 years ago should have done this as part of the install.

I have baseboard heat. I didn't know that they had to be bled. Thanks.

Also, should I have the boiler cleaned before the winter? Its only three years old. Wasn't sure .
