My blower is going at hi speed and I want to lower the speed as the sticker on the panel says it only has to run at med-hi speed. The motor is a 3 speed 230 volt motor. An HVAC tech came out and fixed the transformer, and during that time he disconnected all the wires and I am not sure he put them all back correctly as he did not mark them and the motor is a lot louder than it was before. What wires would I change to lower the speed. It says to move the purple one, but I am not sure if that is correct because I would think the wire from the motor to the capacitor would need to be moved as well to the new speed?

This wiring diagram does not look correct, the wiring diagram on the motor itself should be looked at and compared to how it is presently wired, also you should have a schematic on the furnace door panel. Good luck, Mike

There is no diagram on the motor. The only thing on the furnace panel is a chart showing KW used and speeds recommended for heating. The motor is an Emerson and the furnace was built in the 50's

What the sticker says means NOTHING. Before you possibly cause a problem I suggest you contact a QUALIFIED HVAC person to have them measure the air flow over the coil/heat exchanger or CALL back the guy you paid to fix your furnace to start with and have him fix it correctly or find out why he changed the speed of the blower.
