How successful was Henry VII in achieving his aims?
Aims of what?
He wanted a male heir. That did not happen.
He wanted to break away from the catholic church/Vatican, that happened.
Very successful - he defeated a number of claimants to the throne and, following 25 plus years of fighting, he established the Tudor Dynasty; he vastly increased the monarchy's wealth; he was instrumental in implementing and enforcing laws concerning inheritance.
He married his son, Arthur, to Katherine of Aragon in an attempt to guarantee an aliance with Spain. When Arthur died, his widow, Katherine, married Arthur's brother, Henry VIII, a marriage and divorce which eventually led to the separation between England and the Vatican.
Are you studying the Tudor Dynasty, the history of Great Britain? I've done a lot of study and research on the Tudors, particularly Henry VIII - always an interest of mine.
Some great books out there.
