Let x = price of cheaper book
X+y = 40 and x(1.05) = y(0.95)
So x = $19.00

Let the first book is $x and other one is $y
So x+y=40 ---------> 1
X+x/20=y-y/20
So 21x=19y
So x=$19
And
Y=$21
