    Adopting my niece and nefew
I need help my sister lives in Rhode Island I live in mass she had 4 of her kids taken away I've been caller her worker trying to get the kids they won't return my calls at all now I found out there going up for adoption I am able to care for 2 of them but why won't they call me back I thought aunts have rights and that they like to keep them with family but they aren't even giving me a chance all the kids are going to be separated I'm so upset those kids are my life I use to care for them all the time and I moved to cali for a year and that's when she lost them I feel like its my fault that I should have never left them because I would have never let them take them what do I do I want them with me so bad but I don't have the money to pay for a lawyer and I just don't no my rights

Without an Attorney this is a very difficult thing for you to accomplish -

When were the children taken from her? How long ago?

As an aunt, you do not automatically have rights to the children.

I disagree. Having a lawyer would make things easier, however I don't think its impossible to adopt them without a lawyer.

First, I would contact Child Services, see if you can find out any information there. You may even try to find out some information at the courthouse, maybe the clerk can help you?

Once you can find out how to go about applying for adoption, you'll just have to follow all their rules. While you're trying to find all this out, you may look into the states requirements for adoption and try to get some of those things done (any paperwork, Home Study, etc) so that you can have as much done as possible. It will show them you are really wanting to adopt these kids, it will show your initiative.

You can use a document service like Child Adoption | Step Parent Adoption | Domestic Adoption to help you with the papers. They'll complete all the documents for you, then you just file them at the court.

    Hope this helps.
