    Child Support
I'll be 18 years old on Oct. 15th. My mother is receiving child support from my father and has been since they divorced... I have some questions though:

Will the child support stop coming in when I do turn 18? I'm still in High School because of some silly mistakes I made, but I will be graduating in January and I will go to a community college right after that.

I'm hearing many differnet stories some say it will stop when I do turn 18, others say the child support money will continue if I go to full-time college classes.

If anyone knows anything about this situation, please help me... thanks!

From my knowledge of child support laws in the United States, it's my understanding that if you continue with higher level education after high school and the age of 18, that child support will continue until you are at least the age of 22.

These laws might vary depending on the state, though.

What state do you live in? That's the only way you can get a direct answer.

You will hear many stories since they are all true basically. First each state has their laws. After that, some states will allow child support for college. But in the end the real rule will be exactly what the court order says. So you get a copy of the child support order and see what it requires.
