If you had a payment agreement with him and he's not doing it you can attempt to evict for non-payment of rent. Or if there wasn't a set agreement, or non-payment isn't the issue then you would just need to give him the necessary notice to terminate his "periodic tenancy" (month-to-month). Usually it's around 30 days, but does vary by location.

There's a "sticky" at the top of this forum with a link to each state's landlord / tenant laws. Check the laws for Michigan, and proceed from there.

There's really no faster way to do it legally.
