    Hpv & pregnant
I have just found out that I am pregnant. I am at 6 weeks due may 10, 2009.

I had a pap smear and it came back abnormal, the nurse told me that I have hpv. I have heard of it and she told me a lot of info on it. I have researched it on the web and it looks like it can go either way.

I have to have a coploscopy (not sure of spelling there) to better check it out. From what I have read it doesn't look like it will affect the pregancy but I am freaking out. I have been with my husband for years and with my exhusband before that. By the way, I'm 27 now.

I'm very worried about the type that I have. And what I would like to know is if anyone else has it? The nurse told me 80% of the polpulation does. And I have never had any warts could they develop? Or would they have already?

I have my doc appt tomorrow but would really like some feed back from real people now.
Tomorrow is our first sonogram and I'm just worried about it all... :(

It's understandable that you would be worried, but in the majority of situations there is no need to be. They will likely determine the type of HPV you have and decide what, if anything, would need to be done... (usually nothing needs to be done). It is relatively new that women are even checked for it, so most women who have had children had it but didn't know it.
Due to the hormone changes in pregnancy, how the HPV presents itself may change... you may develop warts (usually not a big issue in regard to pregnancy or baby), you might not. It depends on what sort you have and most women with HPV never do.
