Have you carefully read the manual regarding using the remote to reverse, usually a very small button on the side.
Is the reverse button on the remote?
Since we don't know which model you have try to contact Ellington directly. Unfortunatel they do not appaer to accept e-mail. Ellington Fans - FAQs

I will look closer but when I was installing it I didn't notice any buttons. This is strictly controlled by remote.
Also, light dimms only at high speed, at medium or low speed can't control the light.
Thanks, Raf
I don't think that new issue is bad connection of the power lines but more of a remote/receiver issue. Did you double checl the dip switches on both units to make sure they are all identical?
I agree it sounds like a receiver issue.
You still haven't told use where the reverse button is on your fan.
