I am currently in the look for a new roommate, and I don't know how good of an idea it is to move in with someone, that I don't know. I have somebody who wants to look at it today, and might move in with me. I am a guy, and she is a girl, so I don't know if I should do that either. I would feel more comfortable living with a girl than a guy. I can trust women more than guys for some reason. I keep thinking, that just maybe, just maybe we could someday be attracted to each other, and then things would probably go to hell. Anybody have any suggestions?

First, if you do get a female roommate you shouldn't expect anything to happen, especially a relationship. So know just because you have a girl roommate don't get mad if she has a boyfriend and then if he shows up at the house or spends the night. So just don't be expecting anything.

Secondly, you always has to watch who you share a place with, especially someone you don't know. Then again you have to watch the people you do know as well because I've seen best friends become enemies after living together. I understand you feel more relaxed renting to a girl but maybe in your case it might be better renting to a guy unless you think you could control yourself.

I understand you want a girldriend but the right girl will come along. In the meantime relax and she will come when your not looking. If you happen to rent to a girl it doesn't mean she'll become your girl.

Thank you. I am hoping that we will not be attracted to one another. I would feel more comfortable with a girl, but I just don't want anything to come of it. I do want a girlfriend, but not like that. I wouldn't be jealous or anything if she had guys over. I lived with one of my girlfriends before, and it was horrible. Things just get bad. I am afraid to live with one of my friends, because I think we will quickly get tired of one another. I just don't know what to do!

Whenever you have a roommate you must be careful especially with friends. Living with someone can cause problems but it's a chance you take. Things could even work out or don't. As long as the two of you are doing something with yourself you shouldn't bump heads.

It will be a good idea too to make up some house rules and sign an agreement after the rules are both up by the two of you.

Thanks a lot. That sounds like a pretty good idea. They will take over on my brothers part of the lease. So they will be in the lease until April of 2009. I will have to talk to them about rules!

No, what is the movie about?

A lady gets a roommate but she turns out to be psycho and in the end tries to take over her life and tries to kill her. She even gets the same color hair and clothes as her and mimic her. It's a old movie but a classic and they came out with part to a few years ago. This movie makes you weary about sharing a place with someone you don' know.

It's actually a really good movie...

I would move in w/ someone that I knew through someone else, (like thru' word of mouth.. of someone who's looking for a room mate as well). This way they're not exactly a perfect stranger, however they're not a friend either.

I also would keep the relationship between us as more of an aquaintanceship rather than a friendship.

Friendship and room mates don't really mix all the time... however they work pretty well between opposite sexes... PROVIDING THAT ROMANCE IS NEVER AN ISSUE!

I have had both types of room mate experiences... (I'm female so my responses may be different from yours). I found that living w/ same sex roomies was more complicated, personally. Living w/ boys/men were less y or competitive... however the possibility of romance is always a factor that plays up when the guy starts to develop feelingssss... so, yea, that can suck BIG TIME.

Anyhow, that's just my opinion...

Thank You! I hope feelings don't develop, but I am not sure what is going to happen. I would like to just be aquaintnaces or friends rather than a relationship to come of it.
