    There is a glue available that will bond the two different plastics very well. It has been used in the field for 15 years at least. I don't know of any failures, as long as proper assembly instructions are observed.. . Clean pipe, right temperature, use cleaner on BOTH the ABS and the PVC, place glue on both surfaces to be joined, insert-slight twist-hold. Any decent hardware or big-box carries it. Just ask for Oatey Transition Cement, (see image) This will allow you to transition from PVC to ABS directly. Regards, Tom Mark just informed that the advertising on the can was misleading and that the glue can only be used in mobile homes and then only underground. I don't understand why this is but Mark's been in touch with Oatey and that's what they claim and his word's good enough for me.
