A science fiction movie about some microwave energy system being turned on and everyone died except for a few people who were dying at the exact time it was switched on and lived. Much of the movie was spent trying to turn off the system and something weird happened at the end. It was so cool. What was it called?

This is yet another flick that a lot of people ask about which I have never seen--but it sounds like a good one, so I've been keeping an eye out for it to show up on basic cable.

Yeah, don't buy it or you may get bitter. Also bear in mind it is a NZ film, so it may not show up as regularly as other movies.
