I bought a Honeywell RTH7500D and am trying to install it, but (as appears to happen frequently) the wiring guide in the install manual does not match the wire labels from the old, non-programmable Stat.

What I have in the OLD one:

V
RH
RC
G
Y

I believe the proper wiring is:

G=G
RC=RC
Y=Y

but

what do I do with the RH and the V wire? I appreciate any help. My HVAC is a conventional system.

Also, note that the RC is jumpered to the RH in the old stat.

Is this a Heat Pump system? Never heard of V terminal. May be a reversing valve on a Heat Pump.

If this is only a standard heating cooling system, is it possible the V is actually a w?

Rc and Rh allow for separate control sources, one for heat and one for cooling. Many times there is only one source, therfore Rh and Rc get jumped.

OKay, after more unplugging and replugging, it is not a V terminal but a W terminal, and I know where that goes.

But I discovered I have 2 wires from wall going to the Y terminal. One is an open wire end, the other is an o-shaped end, both plugged into the old White-Rodgers Y terminal.

Any idea what to do with the extra (o-shaped) Y wire?

It appears the extra Y is a factory installed jumper. Do I just leave that unconnected in the new honeywell?
