Shower drain (not used)- bad smell
I have lived in my house for 5 years and we don't use this particular shower. In the last two months a bad smell has started coming from it. We thought that it was dry drain so we started running the water a couple times a week. Unfortunately the smell is still happening. Any ideas?

Can you tell if the smell is actually coming from the drain? Add 2 cups of vegetable oil for now and then check the odor gain. Let us know.

The vegetable oil will refill the trap and won't evaporate like water. If you use the drain the veg oil will not harm the plumbing or sewer system. I though the trap may have dried out and lost its seal.
