I purchased a Lasco 32x32 shower stall to be installed in an alcove. When I slide the unit into the alcove, the valve that was roughed in, gets in the way of the shower unit. The shower backs up to a wash/dryer so I could put an access panel to reach the shower valve but I would then be seeing the back of the valve and the block it's attached to and not the front where I really need to be. The wall situation is two 2x4 walls back to back. How do I push the valve back so I can slide the unit in, then get it back through the drilled hole and make sure it's attached to the mounting block correctly. Any ideas? Thanks

Cshoxie - I can only think of one way , that is if I understand you right:: OK it will take two of you to do this job probley. First of All Move the wstall out of the way and on the double 2x4 wall , On the wall closest to the stall, take and cut out the stud between three of them and frame a oppening large enough to set the stall in place and still where you can get into still to do the work you have to , the shower faucet shoul;d fit in between the studs, and if the hole in the 2 walls is framed out big enough ,you should be able to get it done . If I understand you correctly here... you should just need to shut the water off to the shower valve...REMOVE THE ENTIRE STEM ASSEMBLY from the body of the shower valve....slide unit into place... you may have to bend/stress shower wall forward a bit but that should be all you need to do.

Then confirm hole in shower wall lines up with valve... install shower unit and then install the stem assembly back into valve body and turn water on.

Does the manufacturer of your alcove shower recommend setting the shower unit in a bed of mortar or a similar substrate?
