    Basement rough-in too close
My house is 5 years old and we had believed the builder put in a 2 piece bathroom rough-in in the basement. We never looked closely until today when we started taking measurements in order to start basment finishing. Well big problem, the 3" waste pipe for the toilet is only 4" from the outside wall! It should be 12" from everything I read.
Has anyone heard of something like this? Do we have any options other than breaking up the concrete in order to move it over that far?

    Hi PMG...

Sorry... if that is in fact your toilet pipe then you are correct here. You will need to chop up the floor and relocate the pipe to 11.5" to 12" to center of pipe off the finish wall.

11.5" seems to work best with today's toilets.

Let us know if anything else comes up as you go. Glad to help where we can!

Assuming that you have PVC, Take a cement saw and cut a trench back fron the stubup to where you can center the 3" stub up 11 1/2" off the finished wall. Then cut the closet bend loose and move it into position. You maynow prime and glue in a 3" PVC coupling or couple the ends together with a shielded coupling,(see image) good luck, Tom
