I am proud to announce the grand opening of the ECMTC headquartered in Houston, Texas.

So, which one is going to fail on me first?

    1. Internet via cable
    2. TV via satellite
    3. Both because of power failure
    4. Neither, a miracle will happen and both will work

Hurricane Ike is providing the test environment.

Earlier today at work, it took over four hours for a group of six of us geeks to shut down the physical servers, virtual servers, SANS, phone system and network gear at all three of our locations here in Houston.

My money would have been on #3.

Power is slowly being restored. Internet at work is back up but not at home. Satellite TV was back up as soon as the weather was clear enough but the cable Internet connection at home is still down.

I just got work from some family members in north central PA that they are without power because of the hurricane traveling all the way up to OH, PA and NY.

Still no Internet at home. I never really knew how much I would miss it. I have had Internet access since 1994. There were no more than a few thousand web sites back then and it was all dial-up.
