I have Toshiba laptop which I just bought last month. There is no sound from my head set, Just through the speaker of my laptop?

Possibly a silly question, but have you plugged them into the headphone socket and not the mic socket.
Also you may have to adjust the volume accordingly.

Make sure nothing is muted in the volume options(double click the speaker icon in the tray)

You are sillier than me, because I have solved my problems but not as what you expected. My sound software was broken and I have fixed it.
