I am a medical assistant in a doctors office. I have recently come to the conclusion to leave this current practice and move on. I do not agree with MANY aspects of this office. My main issue is a doctor asking me to basiclly type a chart notes from previous visits, OK not a problem. Then, I was told to alter information in those notes. The patient had to have an amputation. The doctor went into cover your butt mode and I was made to change information imortant to the future treatment of this person. Does anyone know who I would talk to or report the doctor to? I can't leave and just turn my back and more people get hurt by him.:confused:

Contact your local licensing agency to report this doctor. Most states have this under their State health Department website.

And NEVER alter medical records, even under duress. If the doc wants the records altered, you suggest he do it himself, you will not open yourself to a lawsuit.
