First year choice for whom came to USA from China with h1-b at oct 31,2005
    Hi experts:

This is really a good place with so many great experts.I need your help.

    My condition is below:
1.I arrived USA from China with h1-b at oct 31,2005.before oct 31,2005 I lived in China all the time.
2.my wife arrived USA from China with h4 at apr 20,2006.before apr 20,2006 my wife lived in China all the time.
3.my wife and I do not have child.
4.I got one w-2(9000 dollar wage for two month) from my employer,I did not changed my job from the beginning.
5.I made extension with form 4868 before apr 15,2006,and mailed it to IRS and mailed the copy which was printed with "new york state copy" to New York state department of taxation and finance .

    My questions are below:
1.can I make first year choice to file as resident for 2005 income tax return?
2.how should I make first year choice?
3.is my first year choice related to my wife?
4.can I apply ssn for my wife? Can she have a social security card?
5.I mailed the form 4868 to IRS and the copy to NEW YORK STATE,but I did not receive any reply,I am not sure if the extension is accepted or not, how can I know the result of extension application(I mean the form 4868)?

    Thank you very much.

Victor, I previously provided some help on the whole first year choice deal. I've just moved the post up. Please look at this information.

    taxsearcher,

    Thanks a lot.

I asked this question because I read the announcement about "from f1 to h1/h1-b" here, but I am on h1-b all the time when I am in USA.

According to my situation you can see that I am a new comer.the questions:confused: which I asked is too professional and complicated for me.

    Thank all the kind people.

    SINCERELY
