Is there a cure for OCD?
Hello there I am wondering if anyone knows a "cure" for OCD or at least how to calm it down. My sister has the disorder and it is a complete nightmare living with her its like living with cinderella this is probably why she is losing so much weight. I don't really know that much about it but she got diagnosed not too long ago, she is really bad she can hardly go out the house as when she does she wants to be back to tidy up.

This is a behavioral disorder as much as it is a mental disorder. Medications are usually used along with behavior therapy.

Oh right the only medication she is on is antidepressants to release seratone, as she gets annoyed if she can't tidy up she says just likes to know that its done.

So, she is on an SSRI (Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitor)? Do you know the name of it?

She also needs some behavioral therapy to help overcome the OCD. Medication alone will not cure this.

No she is just on a dose of anti- depressants to a day called fluoxetine which she says don't work. But your right she does need behavioral therapy because her disorder is getting on top of her life.

Another name for that is Prozac. It may not work for her, she may need another medication. Sometimes finding the right medication is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Yeah I have heard of that, I will tell her to make an appointment to go and see her doctor because if this medication is'nt working then it maybe doing more harm than good
