How is evidence numbered/lettered in Georgia? Need ASAP
Hello. I was needing some information for a report/thesis I am writing.

In the State of Georgia, how would video evidence in a capital murder case be submitted? Would it be "Exhibit A" or "Exhibit 1" or some other way of identifying it as evidence?

In the report I am suggesting that the act of murder was captured on videotape by someone involved with the murder and the tape was later found at another location. The tape/video is to be used as evidence by the prosecution. How would it be identified in the case? And is this numbering/lettering system any different in other states?

    Thanks in advance!

As far as identifying evidence is concerned from what I've seen pre-trial hearings/motions in NYS use letters; trial evidence is numbers.

And numbers with subletters if necessary.

And, yes, a videotape would be numbered in the order in which it's admitted into evidence. I know it is in liability trials.

    Is that your question?

To add to Judy's excellent answer, I believe that the evidence designation must also include either a name or letter reflecting which side submitted the evidence. For example, if the video were the first piece of evidence submitted by the prosecution then it might be designated as P-1 or Prosecution's Exhibit 1.
