He probably knows he f_cked up and the only way he knows how to deal with it is to distance himself. Men deal with things in a different way. He probably meant what he said, but doesn't want to lead you on anymore. Move on. If he wanted it to work out etc he would have contacted you. I've been going through the same thing, I know it's hard to realize you may just never talk to that person again. But stay strong. Don't contact him. Let him wonder...
