Heart scan arterersclerosis LAD no treatment!
Hello, my 54 year old friend has a cardio appt tomorrow resulting from a routine physical he had. He was put on blood pressure meds, crestor, Q10 enzyme 10, fish oil, Vitamin C , aspirin and another statin I forget at the moment. His heart 'scan showed 681 with the majority in the left anterior descending artery. GP said angioplasty no option. The Dr. did say there was one treatment he could try that wasn't really recognized.. chelation! (Is he that bad, that is the only hope? ) Friend happened to see the handwritten note from the radiologist to the GP stating; "this guy should be worried." Well, he is! We have both been doing research like crazy. What are the general treatment options. The GP told him it was likely he would have a heart attack within 3 years based on the scan, his cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, etc. The guy REFUSES to eat well... lives on melted cheese and greasy meat and doesn't know what a veggie is. He 'knows' all the meds/vitamins will prevent absorption of cholesterol. He religiously takes the meds and vitamins, though. On them for 2 months now. (He is educated beyond belief but still won't eat right... ) He has, however, run 3 miles a day for 12 years. In great physical shape. Not overweight. Has no symptoms but is beginning to panic. Is there some reason they don't generally do angio on the LAD? The Left Main is completely clear! Any questions in particular he should ask the cardiologist tomorrow? How to prevent a heart attack that could kill him? Avert it by having by-pass surgery now? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Panicked
