I am looking for a title of a movie in either the late 70s or 80s where a young boy has a terminal illness and dies in his fathers arms on a roundabout in a park

Thanks but I don't think that is the movie.
I think the young boy loves the theme park and he ends up dying there on a roundabout.
I think he might have had leukemia but I was only about ten years old when I watched it
