Can any action be taken by the collection company due to unpaid medical bills ?
We owe a small amount on several bills but have not paid them. Can they do anything else except report them to the credit agency ?

Yes, they can file in Court and get a Judgment which they can then enforce, using any legal means - garnishment, freeze a bank account, lien against property.

If these are small amounts, they may not bother; HOWEVER, some collection companies work solely for the medical profession and are tenacious.
