    quadratic eq. word problems
    two railway station are at distance of 96 km from each other. One train covers this distance in 40 minutes less than the other . The speed of the first is 12km/h faster than that of second. Determine the speed of both trains.

    I've made the data as follows

    Distance = S= 96km
    Speed of train A = V= x km/h
    Speed of train B = V'= x+12 km/h
    Time taken by train A= t = y h
    Time taken by train A= t' =y - 2/3 h

    Formula applied

    V=S/t
    V'=S/t'

    Answer I got

    Speed of train A 48 km/h
    Speed of train B 60 km/h

    Required answer

    Speed of train A 36 km/h
    Speed of train B 48km/h

    can someone help me to get correct answer...

    speed of train A is 12 km/hr faster than train B... which means

    V = x
    V' = x - 12

    t = y
    t' = y + 2/3
