I'm buildling an outdoor kitchen island and plan to side it with 1/4" hardibacker. It is on a 20 gauge steel frame and located on a rooftop deck, so weight is an issue. Can anyone suggest the ideal mix of products that meet these criteria (in order):

1. Light weight
2. Durable
3. Attractive (Stucco-like appearance with color alternatives)
4. Inexpensive

Modified thinset should meet your requirements. It's the same stuff you'd use to mount floor and wall tiles to backerboard.
