    Mason Mix to Sand Ratio
I'm re-laying a small brick wall down my driveway. The bricks are basically 4x8x16 cap blocks laid on side. They're old bricks though and look like exposed aggregate concrete and not just concrete block material. I've done a little bit of work like this before but as I'm definitely a novice, I've always used the pre-mixed Quikrete Mason's Mix that already has sand in it. I wanted to use LaFarge's Magnolia Buff Mason's Mix to more closely match the bricks. However I forgot that this is not premixed. My question is what is the ratio of sand to mortar? The bag says "one bag to 2 1/2 to 3" something or other of sand, but I was hoping someone could tell me something like "one shovel of mix to 3 shovels of sand" in my mixer or something like that...

This link says 3 parts beach sand to one part mortar cement. We used a 2 to 1 spec at the highway agency I worked for, but that was government spec.
