C and D drives not visible
I have a few questions first off, after being the victim of some malware I've managed to remove a lot of the symptoms but still have a couple left over.

-My first question, my C and D drives are not visible on the My Computer panel. I've tried looking up some methods to fixing this and many suggest to access disk management and try rename the drives, this won't work for C because it is a boot volume drive, but it works for D perfectly. When I tried changing D to a different letter it had shown up in My computer straight away and the problem seemed to be solved, however I tried changing it back to D and it dissappeared again. I am still able to access the C and D drives by typing C:\ and D:\ but it irritates me having not being able to see them.

My question is how do I make these drives visible again on My Computer with their original letters?

-My second question, on the start menu under "settings" the only option that is displayed is
"taskbar and start menu" all the other options appear to have vanished, notably the control panel, I can still access the control panel via My Computer on the menu to the left by using "Change a Setting"

My second question is how do I return the original options, if only, the control panel back to this menu.

-My third question, whenever I browse the internet my browser appears to crash and I am deemed with the "Operation Aborted" pop up stating that the internet cannot open the site, all I do is click "Ok" hit "Back" and hit "Forward" and problem solved I am on the site, but it is extremely irritating having to do this quite frequently.

My third question is how do I prevent "Operation Aborted" from happening in the future, is it something as simple as reinstalling IE?

I know some of these questions fall out of the category of Harddrives but I thought I would package all three questions in one thread anyway, many thanks to all future answers

You can run SmitFraudFix, it will reset all the settings that get changed, download it HERE

    Assuming you are running XP

With IE, try going to internet options and advanced tab and Reset

Run tweakui and make sure that those two drives are checked off... if they are unchecked you will not see them in explorer

Download TweakUI 2.10.0.0 for Windows XP
    http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...ertoySetup.exe

Start with that and post back with remaining problems

That seemed to fix the first two issues, much appreciated! All that's left is to fix the "operation aborted" problem, I think I will just reinstall IE or even use something different, thank you

Glad it fixed them for you.

As for a different browser, I suggest Firefox, its just so much safer then IE and better, there is also Google's Chrome, but its still in Beta, but very nice still.

There is a lot of talk about the browser Opera being more secure than Firefox and certainly much safer than Internet Explorer.
Link : Opera browser: Home page It's free and functions very well.

I would also like to recommend the best Malware cleaning software I have seen or ever used. Malwarebyte's Anti Malware.
