I'm not coming in here trying to burst anyone's bubble. I just think the idea of religion is a good one. It keeps people in line and provides a basis for living a good life. It is an outlet that gives people a BASE of fundamental being. As humans, we are forced to come up with a platform for our lives. Most logical people will attribute this to one celled creatures that crawled out of the sea of ooze. Some people have a need for a simpler explanation that isn't so slimy. So humans have made up stories to make it seem glorified. Hence, we have the bible, church, praying to the sky, Muslims blowing themselves up, mothers cutting off their infants arms in the bathtub because the bible told them to do so.
The fact is, we evolved from a slimy ooze millions of years ago. Nothing very glamorous. But our egos paint a prettier picture filled with clouds and marshmallow dreams. How convenient. We are equal to one celled creatures in the grand scope of things. Small beings in a small corner of our perticular galaxy. And there are billions of galaxies with trillions of planets. Are we so arrogent as to think we are the center of it all. God only rules his anger on this little planet? A planet filled with suffering and hunger? Why did God create ebola? So he could watch his creatures bleed from the eyeballs and suffer a horrifying death? Why has the HOLY LAND been at war for the last 2000 years? Why do babies die inside the womb? It seems to me that if GOD is out there, he would look out for us just a little bit in his busy day.

I have to disagree here. Religion has always been a great cause of infighting, of wars, of bad behavior towards others. And a great passionado of everyone's money !

Yes, I understand. That's just the point. None of us understand what is really going on in this universe. Religion provides a false premise. False, but useful in order to keep a relitive peace in our society. I think the lawlessness would be too rampent to control if rules were not instilled by this God thing. I still insist that humans are stupid in the grand skeem of things, but don't let that mess with your ego.

Here is the mind boggling question. If the universe is infinate, what is beyond that? More space? Even more space is something. Ouch, my brain hurts.

We will NEVER know!! We are bound to space-time, and that can only be found within our universe.

So why bother about that at all?

I am a Secular Humanist who is tolerant to others believing differently, subject to them just believing instead of making wild unsupported claims.
