I have a Craftsman leaf blower model# 358.794963. I was using it the other day when it shut off like someone hit the kill switch. Won't start again, plenty of gas to carb, replaced plug.
I want to take the case off but I can't figure out how to get it off, I've removed all screws holding case together. Does anyone have any tips for this?

Troubleshoot like any other engine: Check for spark, air and fuel first.
You don't need to disassemble quite yet. If you don't know how, holler.

My experience with Sears leaf blowers is that you now own a brightly colored door stop. The carbs on blowers are about the size of your thumb and are nearly impossible to rebuild by the homeowner. Take it to a Sears shop and they will charge you $75+ up to $100 to fix or rebuild. In the meantime you will notice that they have their blowers on sale for $85. Happened to me more than once.

I have one of those that's black. It's probably 30+ years old, but wasn't thrown away. It wasn't a vacuum, just a blower, and the Toro electric vac I had drove me nuts because the intake kept moving and shutting off the safety.

Bought an Echo blower/vac and Echo returned all my money after two years. Now I have a Stihl blower/vac and love it.

Note what the commecial guys use: Stihl. Never saw any commercail establishment us a Craftsman or Echo. Have yiou?

I have the same model, same problem. Took off the air filter cover, and then removed the two screws below that which hold the carb in place. Under that are two more screws, which for some reason had become loose, thus interfering with the seal (vacuum?) between the carb and the cylinder. Tightened the screws, and it ran fine. For awhile. Today I've had it apart twice and the screws were loose again. I'm going to try a lock-washer and see what happens, but also am going to order some new gaskets and foam from the Sears website. I like this machine because it worked great for 2-3 years, and it boasted a 25:1 mulching ratio, which means you empty the bag about half as often as you do with the others. That in itself makes it worth hanging on to in my opinion.
