    DWI 5 years ago can I become a citizen?
    I was driving after I drank 1 beer (24oz) I was stopped by the police and the results of the alcohol was 0.9. I was taken to jail and release the same day I paid a bound. This was 5 years ago, could this affect me if I want to become a Citizen I am curretly a resident.

    If the outcome of your case is a fine of less than $500 with no jail time, and you do not have any other records after this incident, you may apply for naturalization on your own but you must disclose this information.

    If the outcome was different, you should have an attorney handle this matter for you.
