Why do we use rude and insulting names for politicians?
I can understand not supporting a person who does not match your political philosophy. That's what makes political debate interesting (to me, anyway.)

What I don't understand is the need to belittle the candidates by calling them names like The Obamanation or McShame. I cringed when pundits referred to former President Clinton as "Slick Willy" and although "Dubya" is not as mean in spirit it is still rude, IMO.

Do we have to degrade them to feel more secure in our political position?

I would love to hear your thoughts.

Degrading political people has become a way of life. Do I agree with it? No, but again if our politicians were upstanding pillars of the community and not a bunch of sleeze balls there would be no reason to resort to name calling. So, bottom line, they have and will continue to bring it on then selves by their disgraceful actions.

I think many people do it just to get a response from the other side.

    I know I do.

I love to see the libs get all foamy around the mouth, when they try to defend their candidate, especially when the degrading name, truly fits.

Why not? Politicians do it to each other. I constantly see the words "Liar" and "Hypocrite" plastered over politician's names or faces followed by the line: "This ad is supported by So-And-So."

I agree, it'd ridiculous. I see no need to belittle others to make yourself look better. Just state your case, your stance, your goals and what you can do for us, and let us make up our minds.

Call it what you want, try your best to insult me, sorry to tell you that your words, have absolutely NO effect on me what so ever.

Unlike my insulting words, that seem to have a huge effect on the NObama supporters.

It's called having fun, and throwing mud at the mudslingers.

I don't plan on ever growing up to the point where I can't have a little fun now and then.

Yeah, that's me, just a rowdy little schoolboy!!

They have everything that most people don't... power, status, money... big house, posh car, in fact they don't want for anything... money talks.

Therefore we do it 'cause we can... it makes the likes of us ordinary human beings,

    Feel better
