    Basement Shower Steps
I am currently putting a shower in my basement. The drain pipe has been roughed in, however, it is under the concrete slab. I know where the pipe is from the blueprints. Now I need to know the steps to follow to expose this pipe and install the drain. Any help you can provide would be great.

First measure off the pipes location and mark the cement slab. Now open up the slab with a jackhammer or cement saw and bare the end of the pipe. The trap and raiser will be installed directly under position of the shower drain. Since you've failed to inform me of the type of shower you're installing, a custom tile base or a manufactured one, this is about as specific as I can get at this time. If you can give me more details About your installation I can be more helpfill. Hint: Consider installing a regular drain below grade and sloping the floor to it. This would get away from the hassle and expense of buying and installing a manufactured base or the labor cost of installing a custom tile one. I live in a slab house with terrazzo floors and my shower floor is sloped from grade. It's been working great since 1955. Good luck, Tom
