I f yo have status in Canada to incurr a debt, you have status to discharge it. If a trustee tells you that you cannot go bankrupt, you may not be responsible for the debt itself.
A Canadian residing in Canada incurrs a US debt. He works in the US but resides in Canada. He cannot be sued in Canada only the US. Enforcement of the US judgment is only in the US not in Canada. A bankruptcy in Canada does not discharge the US debt. A bankruptcy in the US does not dishcarge the Canadian debt. Hope this example clarifies the situation.
