80's french pop song -title and artist?
80's french pop with a bizarre video I used to see on an Australian music show called "rage".
The song and video are fast paced and semi-animated and the only lyrics I remember (in english) from the chorus are : "sha na na na na na na na na". Not very helpful , but a super catchy track none the less.I've done broad searches on YouTube and Google to no avail.any suggestions would be helpful.

    Could this be it?

    Bananarama - Kiss Him Goodbye

    Na na na na
    Na na na na
    Hey hey hey
    Goodbye

    He'll never love you
The way that I love you
'Cause if he did, oh no, he wouldn't
    Make you cry

He might be thrilling baby but my love's
So doggone willing so kiss him
    (Wanna see you kiss him)
Go on and kiss him goodbye

    Na na na na
    Na na na na
    Hey hey hey
    Goodbye

    Na na na na
    Na na na na
    Hey hey hey
    Goodbye

    He's never near you
    To comfort and cheer you
    When all those sad tears
Are falling baby from your eyes

He might be thrilling baby but my love's
So doggone willing so kiss him
    (Wanna see you kiss him)
Go on and kiss him goodbye

    Na na na na
    Na na na na
    Hey hey hey
    Goodbye

    Na na na na
    Na na na na
    Hey hey hey
    Goodbye

Sorry couchcarrot, but I know the bananarama song (and it too is very catchy) but the song in my head is french and is in french (which is why I can't quote the lyrics beyond the na na na's).
It's a guy and a girl singing and its good times.
    Thanks for trying.

Did this video also feature a small monkey jumping up and down on a TV set? I saw a french language music video on TV in Monaco in the late 80's with that in it, also very fast paced reminded me of Plastique Bertrand's Ca Plane Pour Moi, but it wasn't that. Ring a bell or any help with that one?

You are correct in the monkey jumping on the TV.and it is a french language track.yet I still have no idea as the artist and title.
You are also correct as to the similarities to ca plane pour moi.
It is a fast paced energetic pop track.
Its good its not a dream I had.
Hazard a guess at the title and artist?

This question has been killing me for 20 years!! I only remember a monkey jumping up and down on a TV to the beat, it was in a room with a kind of comfy chair in it. I think there was this punk like woman in it too. It was a really awesome tune and I could not remember any of the lyrics cause I don't speak french. Can't even begin to guess. I was searching for it again all morning today and not even a clue. We need to find someone French to ask. If I find out somehow I will post it.

Yeah-you got the same song.as I remember it it had both a male and female singing.I've trolled through countless videos on YouTube.I probably saw it around 87-88 as a teen in australia.the show I saw it on (somewhat regularly) is called "rage" and still runs today.its an all night music show on the government station and best of all has "no presenter".yet it does feature guest programmers where bands or artists will come in and play artists that influenced them.the talking is still minimal.
If I get any more info-i'll let you know.

I FOUND IT!! I went YOUTUBE and found a guy with a bunch of French Punk tunes, his channel description said he was up on all the classic French punk tunes so I described the video. He came back with the right one!

    TITLE: C'est Comme Ca
    Artist: Ritia Mitsouko

Link: YouTube - Les Rita Mitsouko ~ C'est Comme Ça

It is available on MP3PRO or limewire to download as well. I LOVE this video and song. It just rocks! Listening to it again and watching the video I can see why it was popular in Oz.

That is so awesome.thanks so much!I've had that song in my head for well over 10 years.I only heard it when it came out originally.around '88 I guess.listening to it was better than I remembered - and you've got to love the almost full minute of silence at the end!when they aired it on "rage" they did not edit the silence out.
Once again - thank you so much.

C'est comma ca by Les Rita Mitsouko - think that may be it. It has monkey and TV in the video :)

I am looking for another French song that I saw on Rage in 1987 or 88 and thought I had found it when I stumbled onto this forum... but alas, the C'est comme ca is not the song I am after. I don't know any of the French lyrics although I can hum a bit of the tune in my head, not very helpful I know. The music video was part animated though and had a sleek green lizard in parts, very catchy song and quite popular in Australia on Rage for me and my 14yo friends.
    Any help greatly appreciated!
    Cheers Karl
