Greek songstress Vicky Mosholiou
In the 1960's the only known Greek female singers in the west were probably Nana Moskouri and Vicky Leandros ( represented Belgium I believe in the 1970's)
I have very recently learnt that ( to me and many Greek seamen ) the very best Greek female singer - Vicky Mouschouliou _ ( variations = Bhkh Moyschoylioy - biku Mosholiou - Viki Mosholiou et al) passed away last August.
I feel as gutted now as I did when my other songstress - the Portuguese - Queen of Fado - Amalia Rodrigues - took her talents to higher places.
Amalia's records and videos have been readily available - but Vicky - Viki etc etc ------ I have even had problems trying to find on the net.
You guys on the US side of the pond must know or have Greek friends and aquaintances to get me at least a "Discography " of this lovely lovely lady. We were - to the last man - totally besotted and in love with this Greek Goddess of Song
Now in my 60's - I will never forget sailing under those tropical velvet sparkling skies - with LP's etc - ( the players laid on foam rubber to avoid vibration ) - playing in the back ground.
Yes Nana Mouskouri was very popular in Europe US and the rest but to us lonely sailors - the "voice" was that of BHKH (another variant).
If it helps she was married to a top Greek football ( soccer) player.
Even on records - you felt she was singing only to you.
Come on you lads and lasses - see if you can tell an old mariner where I can get hold of her Music
Pretty - pretty - pretty P L E A S E! :D
