My friend really needs help. She wants to adopt her nieces and nephews.
We live in the state of Nevada. She is only 19. Her older sister keeps having kids but doesn't like taking care them. She doesn't work. Her sister has an issue. Her sister falls in love with guys very easily and thinks that the guy will stay if she bares his child. So far that hasn't worked. So she took care of them. To her, those kids are hers. Because of the well being of the kids. The state took her sister's kids to a home. She's been working really hard and saving money and thinking of ways to get them back but she doesn't like asking for help. She was watching the TV a couple of days ago and saw her nieces and nephews for adoption. She thought she had more time. I want to help her but I don't know what advice to give her. I would do anything for my friends. I would adopt the children myself but she lives in a different city. I want to give her advice but I don't know what to tell her. Please, if anyone can help me with this. It would be greatly appreciated.

She needs to go to the state social services agency to request to either foster or become guardian of the kids. Forget adoption for now, because she probably won't qualify. But if she explains that is her ultimate goal, there is a good chance they will let her take the kids though they will monitor the situation.

If they are to the point they want them adopted out they may not settle for foster home because they only leave kids in the system and foster care for so long before they want them adopted out asap. I don't know if it is to that point or not so it doesn't hurt for her to check and she really needs to check with the service and explain that she really wants to have them and adopt them as Scott said asap. But if she already had them and they took them off her then she may not qualify for foster care or adoption.
They claim they like to put kids with family first but I don't always see it working that way even when it could. With them up for adoption asap is urgent!

    I need my kids back
Hi, my name is Ali and I live in Nevada. I am the friend Gemmo333 mentioned. I am 19 and I have raised my sister's kids since they were born. Boy A and Girl V. I have been fighting for rights since I was fifteen. I thought when I turned 18 I was an adult so it'd be no problem. Seeing how I'm the biological aunt to both, have had the same job for almost four years, my own place, car, all of that, and the judge said I'm the most qualifide, I have to be 21 to get a license to adopt. My age is the only thing that disqualifide me... As he said, I don't ask for help. He did this then told me... I may have not given birth to them, but I raised them. They don't know my sister, and they shouldn't. She's a drug user. I've never been arrested, I don't do drugs, and I don't drink. They're my kids... Someone, help me get them back.

My answer still stands. If you need to be 21 to adopt then drop the adoption for now. Go for guardianship or possibly fostering.
