In California it is illegal for anyone over 21 to be with anybody under 16.
Your mother would have to go through the courts to find if there is any possible way for you to marry him.
I really doubt Nevada papers would hold up in any way in California.

Years ago I even heard of a married Mexican couple where he got arrested for statutory rape with his wife because the Texas law was that he could not be with her even though they had been married in Mexico before they moved to Texas.

Yeah most Mexican's I know that came here on the work program married and then went back to their wife in Mexico within a year. One girl did it twice, she is obsessed with Mexican guys.
Also another problem with marrying someone from other countries is it is really hard if you have a baby with them and then they take the child and return to their country.

Back in the mid 70's many middle eastern guys were doing that and the girls could not get their kids back.

Before you marry this person I would suggest you think about your future a little bit more. You are 16. You shouldn't be thinking about marriage. You should be thinking about prom and your driver's license and high school graduation. I think you owe it to yourself to be young as long as you can.

Marriage is a life long challenge & certain factors make the odds for success better or worse. You have a lot of the worse factors in play which is why everyone is concerned about you.

Age wise, and with your mother's consent, may not be the issue. One possible obsticle is that he is in the US illegally. There is a very good chance that he will end up deported and you may have to decide whether you would want to live in Mexico.

Well actually yes I was being rude, a 16 year old is a child still and has no business getting married, They need to be in high school doing study, going to school dances and learning what life is really about, At this point and time, no they have no idea. What marriage is all about.

In California if either the bride or groom is under 18, at least one of the minor's parents, or legal guardian, must appear with the couple. Certified copies of birth certificates are required. The couple must also schedule an appointment with a counselor and then appear before a superior court judge.

So, even though you have a notarized statement from your mom it won't be valid like it was in Nevada. She must be present when you get married.
