I keep having these feelings that everyone is going to die and everything is going to
I can't even look my parents in the eye anymore because I know in just 10 years they are going to be 60 and I'm oing to be like 25. We're all getting so old! And then in another 10 years they'll be old, gray, and 70 and I'll be in my thirties. Things will change, I will have a job, my parents will retire... It's just so damn scary... My friends might even move away, maybe I won't know some of them anymore. My brother might live apart from me, my parents might move to another country... We'll all be old and alone... what can I do to get these feelings out of my head? They intensify as I get older and move on to new schools and grades and realize that we are all slowly aging and things are changing. My dad isn't the big strong man I knew 10 years ago, now I'm almost his height... everyone will eventually grow weak, frail, and alone... AND I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT! WHAT CAN I DO TO STOP IT!? I keep thinking that one day, my parents and family won't be alive any more and I'll be alone... what can I do to stop thinking this and prevent it from happening!

Sadley we all have to die, so we enjoy our family as much as we can whilst where here.

All of us think these things but eventually realize there is no point, life goes on and there is no point in dwelling on the inevidible.

You don't say if you have any religion but if you do then you will know that life goes on but in a different format... like rebirth if you like.

I personally believe in life after death.. infact death is not a word I choose to use, I always say moved next door because to me that's all they've done and you will see them again.

Even if you have no religion you can still believe in life after... try some prayers too lift and guide you through this, start with THE LORDS PRAYER most of us know this from school, say it before you go to sleep at night ask for some comfort and strength to cope with these worrys, pray for the continued health of not only your mum and dad but also yourself... there is no special way to pray just say what ever comes naturally to you.

You don't have to go to church you can pray where ever you are God will hear you and help you... most of all be sincere speak from the heart, believe and he will help.

Go about your daily life and be thankful that you have each other to love and cherish and enjoy don't waste your time on if's and maybe's enjoy here and now.

    T,

You will have to grow up and become an adult. :)... not be immature, a child, all your life.

We all have lessons to learn in life, and one of them is the inevitability of the cycle of life... birth, living, death... that is the way of all living things. :)

Study hard, get your education, no one can take your education away from you, and go forward with life. Be a positive influence on humanity. :)

    Good Luck!

I hear you railing at and trying to run away from life's only constant, change.

When I realized that I was part of life and affected other people with my actions or non-actions, the reality you describe hit like a ton of bricks. Acceptance is the answer that brings peace. Your attitude is 90% of any feeling you decide to have.

Wanting to control (to stop) the only constant we have, change, is futile. You can control/choose your attitude and your acceptance of whatever life lays at your doorstep. You can go forward with happiness in spite of, or perhaps because of, change.

You are part of life. Life is change. If you fight it, you fight yourself.

Embrace change. It brings great things. Stop thinking that your parents will get weak, move away, die, your friends will move on, you'll get a job. Start thinking things like--
--"Wow, my parents will be able to retire and enjoy more time together and with me."
--"I'll turn into a great person with education, a career, be able to build a family."

You will become a great person, I see it happening already, just stop thinking of the glass half empty and start seeing it as half full!
