We had low water pressure so I replaced the pressure swich and gauge on my water pump. Now we have no pressure at all. I've tried numerous fixes from inspectapedia but have not had any luck. It appears that there is no water coming in from the outside wahic there was before I turned it off to make the repair. Is there something I'm missing that I forgot to do or is there something I should check. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.I'm at a loos for what else to try.

I wonder if your pump lost prime. What type of pump do you have? Make and model. One of us will be able to help you once we know that. Do you know if you have a deep well, or shallow well pump?

If the gage is non top of the impeller cage then remove it and fill the cage with water and replace it to rprime your pump. While the pressure was off did you set the bladder tank to 2 PSI under the cut in point of the control box? Let me know, Tom

Thanks for the reply. It is a self priming sumersible pump. Do not know the make or model as it is at the bottom of a 100 ft well. Water doesn't appear to be flowing in normally to fill the holding tank so it's not building up pressure in the tank.

Possible that your wellpipe is leaking. Only way to find out is to pull it up.

We are assuming your pump is cutting on. If it is, then it is likely the pump was failing when you replaced the switch and is now a goner.

If you have a fitting right on top of the pump, you can take it out, or if it is a spigot open it. If you are getting a lot of water, then you have a blockage up top some place.

Do you have a control box on your submersible pump? It could be the capacitor isn't kicking the extra voltage down to the pump so the pump isn't spinning at full speed. If the box looks like this one, take the cover off and take the box with you to a pump supply, or building supply. Buy another one and put the cover on. Check all electrical connections in the box to make sure they are tight.

If you don't have a control box, and you don't have much water coming out right on top of the well, it's time to call a pump service. Some homeowners will try and do their own, but it can be a back-breaker. And, if not done properly, can shorten the pump life. Also, if you were to drop the pump and or pipe down in the well, it will double the price to have a professional do it. Sometimes it involves drilling a new well.

One other thought... have you been in a drought in your area? The pump may be running out of water in the well.

Thanks for all your suggestions I had to replace the pump. First time I ever did anything like this and it was a success. We now have water. Thanks again for all your answers I've learned a lot about my water system.
