    Connecting vista and xp systems
    I am having a dell laptop with vista sp1 and a desktop with xp sp3. The problem is :

    I can see only my own system in the workgroup which has a common name for both..

    After pinging on both sides I can see vista system on xp but not having any permission to access the vista PC.

    I can't see xp system on my vista PC by any means...

    Things I have done::
    Pinging is successful from both the sides..

    I have installed netbeiu protocol on xp.

    I have turned off pssword sharing on vista..

    Disabled all antivirus windows firewall...

    In lan->tcp/ip v4 , advanced tcp/ip settings I have enabled "net bios over tcp/ip" on both the systems.

    Lot of more experiments I did, but failed..

    Any helpful suggestions , please from anybody...

    Try picing a floder in the xp machine (like my pics or something)
    Right click it and pick sharing. Share it over the network
    Then go on the vista machine and refresh the list (sometimes it takes aminute or 2) see if it shows up.

    I had major problems doing the same thing... so I wound up getting a new PC so all 3 at home are vista.
