    Hi Lads & Gents, :)

    thank you in advance for your time here...

    I would like to connect to another PC in my home network. I know that I can type in Windows Explorer bar \\the-pc-ip-or-name\c$

    It works, but I have came across a problem that is when the login window pops up, I cannot change the user name, I can only type in the password. The problem is in user name is written Administrator/Guest and that won't allow me to connect to other PC as Admin (what I need to), and actually is not connecting me at all!

    Do you understand the problem?!

    I suppose there's a place where I can change this setting... or maybe change the way I connect to...

    Could you help on this on please?

    Thing is go to control panel - user and accounts . Here guest account might have been disabled of enabled . If its enable then disable the guest account or if its disabled then enable . This should do the trick as far as I know . Because I also faced the same problem.

    For the sake of example, I am going to name your PC's ONE and TWO.

    If the computer you are trying to connect to is ONE from computer TWO, then go into the Users and Groups of PC ONE and enter the Administrators Group. Add TWO\Administrators as a member.

    THe admin shares (C$, D$, etc.) are default shares and MUST be access with Administrator credentials. So you must add the Administrators group from one machine to the same group in the other machine to give them access.

    I accept this . But is it possible if the user is in workgroup and can we find him or is it like we just have to enter the user of the system TWO

    Workgroup security is not a centralized security model. Each machine in a Workgroup is responsible for its own security. So to add permissions to an Administrative Share, the users from each system that is to be allowed access must each be added.

    Thanks a lot for that. Though that didn't work unfortunately. Is there anything else I could try. Or how I would add admin rights to one another? Actually they both have rights as admin. It has always worked when I did this in other PCs (home network)...

    Thank you for that. Seems to be a good option.
    I tried but couldn'd find the Admin from PC TWO... is there anywhere I need to go to do so?
    Seems that I can only search inside the PC... how can I choose Admin from inside PC ONE? As I'm on PC TWO.

    Hi, there're quite a few ways. Most simple, put the pics into a USB stick and plug it in the PC's usb port. Or any means similar to that.
    Or you need to have a network connection. Wireless or wired. Then set the PCs to be in the same network. From the desktop PC in the Windows Explorer bar type \\laptopIPnumber\c$ then you should connect into laptop's C: from you find your pics copy and past on the desktopPC.
    Or you can right click in the Documents folder in the laptop and share it. Now from the desktopPC you should see this folder inside My Network Places.

    I was reading somewhere about this, and read that the Service Pack3 might be causing that problem. Additionally, my brother had the same problem, but only after he updated to SP3. What do you think? Might the new securite updates be setting it by default? And if so where could I change that please?
