    Civil demand.Employee
I currently work as management in retail. And the other day while stopping in to buy hair ties, another assistant manager accused me of stealing a pair of earing out of a pack that they sell. I came in, asked where my product of choice was, purchased it and walked out. I was asked to come back in and explain where a missing product had gone. I did so with them telling me that they would call mall security. Whom I was more than happy to talk with. I didn't steal anything. I told them that I was returning to my store and they could talk with me there.
Mall security said there was nothing they wanted to do, other than tell me not to go into that store again. The local police said they where not going to take anything further over a $9.00 dollar item.
The store did take down my information, but I didn't sign anything.

But I want to know is, since I work retail can they fire me?
And what will become of the civil demand process?

All else aside it sounds like your employer doesn't know about this and won't find out unless you tell him/her - you were detained, there was no arrest, there were no charges.

I'd stay out of the store, not irritate those people, and go on with my life.

(There will be no civil process if everting happened as you say it did - you were not arrested. People are questioned and released every day.)

I agree with Judy. Sounds like you are in the clear. There is no proof against you and no charges filed.

However, since your store is in the same mall. I would tell your manager about the incident. Tell him how incensed you are over the false accusation. Broach it to him that since you are totally innocent of the charges, you have no problem in letting him know about them. You never know if someone in mall security lets him know of the incident so if you tell him first he'll have no suspicions.

Another thing you might do, is tell him and explain that you want to bar the asst mgr of that store from your store. You are afraid they might retailiate because they were made to look foolish.

But there is another issue with this. My boyfriend currently works in the same company just at another store in our area. And is going for an opening position as store manager.
Which is the same position that the manager from the store I was accused of stealing from works. (shes supposedly getting the job)

Well, if you held up the store with a pistol (and I realize you did not) your boyfriend isn't responsible for what you do.

And if they DO give him a hard time, there were no charges. It was all one big mistake.

Your boyfriend works for the store that accused you? Are they aware of your relationship? If not, then neither he nor you should mention it.

Or are you saying the accusation was made because the asst mgr who accused you was afraid of losing her job or being passed over for promotion and did this to discredit your boyfriend?

I work for store 'A', my boyfriend works for store 'A' in a different location. (which management is aware of). But, the manager from store 'B' is in the process of getting a job with my company store 'A' but at my boyfriends location.
I didn't know if this affected the situation or not.

So the mgr of Store B, knowing you worked for Store A accused you of shoplifting?? That doesn't sound like me a good way to get a job.
