    Getting a U.S. B12-Tourist Visa
    Getting a U.S. B12-Tourist Visa

My american boyfriend & I been "dating" for 1 yr & 7 months now. We met on the internet, since then we webcam, speak over the phone almost everyday and mail stuff to each otherWe will be seeing each other IN PERSON for the first time on this October. He will stay here for 2 weeks and I want to do the same in the U.S.

In my job, I get like 10-15 days paid vacation leaves per year. I intend to spend those with him. I want to spend ample time with him in person before making long term decisions. I love him but Im trying to be logical. On top of that, I am reluctant where to live "IF EVER". I am happy in my country and I don't see any reason why I have to live abroad if not because of him. He said that he is considering to live here in the Philippines but I am worried of his health (he has depression, arthritis & acute acid reflux). He's a retiree of Ford Motors, got an excellent medical benefits so his health needs is best looked after if he's in the U.S.

If I will come in the US, my boyfriend will finance my airfare & stay. I don't plan to go anywhere else even if I have relatives in CA &NJ. I just want to stay on his home and take my time to gauge things in the future. I don't own a car, land or a house but I have a stable good job paying job (not enough for now to buy a property YET though), studying in Graduate School and has few savings in a bank.

Given this situation, what are my chances to acquire a tourist visa?

You are in difficult situation. While it takes only 4-6 months in some countries to obtain a fiancee's visa, for the Philippines, it takes 12-14 months, or immigrant visa for siblings in 4th preference group which is normally 10-12 year could take 24-25 years.

The chance to get B-1/B-2 is very slim. Other than financial resources, proofs of strong ties to your home country is the key. So do not quit school or quit your job... and do not lie about your b/f ever. You may not have much chance but you may try... in most cases, when the consul learns that you are dating an American, your case will be denied BUT if you lie about your b/f, the consequences would arise when you apply for immigrant visa.

Keep in mind the two main issues are ties to your home country and disclose all info upfront. Good luck...

    Thanks for immediate response.

Did I say a wrong form? I Don't WANT to obtain fiancée visa yet. I want want to get a TEMPORARY VISITORS VISA. I will just go there in my vacation, 2 weeks will be th emaximum time, but most likely just 5 days since I have to go back ahead on my work. It dreads me just to think that I will abandon my country and live abroad in a blonde/snowy environment. Its so intimidating for me that's why I want to have a quick preview and see if I can take it.
