It's Obama who is hung up on image. Note the big negotiation about where he would stage his Berlin address;or the fact that he chose to invoke Kennedy's memory by having his speech outside instead of in the convention hall... or the fact that his acceptance speech just happens to fall on the 40th anniversary of the MKK 'I have a dream' speech.
Then he complains when people notice his image consciousness.

I saw Hillary's speech last night. I'm no fan of hers, but I thought she delivered it on the money. Then I saw Krauthammer on Fox telling us how she failed - how the speech was all about her. What?? However, Chris Wallace, said it like it was, even though he couched it in right wing speak. He recognized what a successful speech it was.

I think her speech was better than the snoozer Mark Warner gave.
I miss the fire and brimstone ;blood and guts raw meat speeches of people like Mario Cuomo or the healthy Teddy the swimmer. Even as sick as he is ;he was more inspirational than anyone else I've heard so far.
I did not watch FOX . I was watching in amazement when the MSNBC panel realized they were bias .
NK the problem with BO is that there is no substance so it has been my task to topple the weak foundation he is built on . It just amazes me that into day 3 of the DNC nobody yet has any idea who this guy really is.

Hillary's speech was great last night but the Governor of Montana Brian Schweitzer Had the best speech from the convention. He got everyone fired up. In case you missed it here is the link to YouTube.

Fat Eddie Rendell compared Obama with the 2 time loser Adlai Stevenson .I think that's about right. Don't be surprised if the Greek temple turns into a Greek tragedy .

If most Americans actually followed the race to this point no. But most Americans do not . This is their first real exposure to the candidates .
Both candidates claim to not take special interest money even though both of the conventions are funded by a who's who of American corporate interests .Also the tax payers have coughed up some money also.($32 million of taxpayer dollars) It was slipped into the defense authorization bill.
For that matter ,the nation and state should stop funding primaries . Let the parties choose their candidate anyway they want to ;but stop asking the public to foot the bill for the voting machines and other expenses. Let the parties pay the costs.Let the taxpayer pay only for elections that are open to all voters and candidates.

Between John Kerry, Bill Clinton, and Joe Biden, the Republicans dearest "John McCain" took a public flogging yesterday. Exciting? I think so. Using McSame for a piņata is always worth the ticket! Especially after eight years of Dubya. Conventions are pep rallies and traditionally evolved into being used for the roll call vote and official nomination. Are the conventions necessary? Not really. Both parties could do much the same without pomp and circumstance, but they'd rather use the four days to advertise their views. This is a normal routine for both major parties, perhaps though more necessary this year in particular for the Democrats since their primary was historically close with all the dynamics.
Yeah I understand it is a campaign tool as much as anything. Respect to that! But they are overstated none the less. They are certainly intense and enjoyable to watch. It makes good television. But in some ways it is not how I want my elected officials carrying on! And both sides are as bad as each other.
